Historic Le Mans 24 Hours win for Ferrari at the centenary
After heart-stopping moments right up until the flag fell, Ferrari delivered a stunningly memorable win at the centenary on Sunday. The exquisitely built 499P car, in the hands of Brit James Calado and Italians Alessandro Pier Guidi and Antonio Giovinazzi took the top step after 24 hard fought hours of intense battles, deplorable weather conditions and racing incidents. The Italian marque triumphed over Toyota, Cadillac, Peugeot, Glickenhaus, Vanwall and Porsche by just over 1 minute. As per tradition, the church bells rang out in Maranello, the historic home of the Ferrari headquarter to signal the great victory. This Ferrari win, their 10th at Le Mans was a glorious return to the top class, 50 years since the factories last participation and 58 years since their last win in 1965.
